Last week saw the completion of our first WiseGuyz Training Institute, a key step in preparing four sites across Alberta to implement our WiseGuyz program in their communities!
Since the beginning of our WiseGuyz program, we have had requests from across Canada from sites that want to provide the WiseGuyz program in their own community. In October 2017, we put out a request for proposals from organizations in Alberta who were interested in participating in a 15-month pilot process to become a licensed site to plan, deliver and evaluate the WiseGuyz program.
We received applications from across Alberta and through reviewing applications, assessing needs and readiness we selected four sites from across Alberta. These four sites have agreed to work with our team over the next 15 months to run the WiseGuyz program in each of their communities:
Research and evaluation have shown that the WiseGuyz program is effective and is addressing many of the issues confronting young men in our community. Starting in Alberta, this piloting process will be our first attempt at scaling the WiseGuyz program across other communities. Once we have evaluation data back from this process, we will begin to move toward having more licensed sites across Canada as the next few years unfold.
