In partnership with Alberta Health Services’ Safeworks, Centre for Sexuality offers rapid HIV and STI testing for gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM).

We also host events, offer support and connect with guys over social media. Learn more about our supports for gay, bi, and other men who have sex with men here.

Rapid HIV & STI Testing

In partnership with Alberta Health Services’ Safeworks, we are happy to offer rapid HIV and STI testing for gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM) at the Centre for Sexuality.

This service is for anyone who identifies as a guy into guys. We do recognize accessing STI testing that is trans-inclusive can be a barrier for trans folks. If you are a trans woman or non-binary please feel free to contact our Gay Men’s Health Specialist, Nolan at nhill@centreforsexuality.ca.”

In addition to standard STI testing, the clinics also offer rapid HIV tests, so folks can know their status in less than a minute. You can also get vaccinations for things like Hepatitis A & B, and the HPV vaccine if you’re 26 and under. Best of all, our services are all free!

When: Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 7:30 pm

Where: Centre for Sexuality office (700 – 1509 Centre St SW)

If you have any questions about the services offered at the clinics, please contact our Gay Men’s Health Specialist.

How often should you get tested?
People who are sexually active should routinely get tested for HIV and STIs every 12 months. If you’re having anal sex without condoms with multiple and/or anonymous partners, or with someone whose HIV status is either unknown or opposite to their own, you should get tested every 3-6 months.

What is Totally OUTright?

Totally Outright is a free, four-day leadership program for young gay, bisexual, trans, two-spirit, and queer (GBT2Q) guys who are into guys between 18-30 years of age. You’ll learn about tools you can use to take care of your own sexual health, as well as strategies to help share the knowledge with your friends and community. Finally, you’ll get to work with other guys to plan an exciting new campaign or event using all the skills and information gained in the program.

What’s in it for me?

In addition to gaining the skills and knowledge throughout the program, Totally Outright is a great way to get connected to other guys like you in the city, including community leaders and experts. You’ll get to spend four days learning alongside your peers from local gay men’s health leaders. We’ll provide lunch, snacks, and bus tickets (if needed). We are also excited to offer a $200 honorarium for completing the program!

What will I learn?

By the end of Totally Outright, guys will:

  • Identify tools and strategies to support their own health and wellness
  • Develop skills to educate their peers and community about the latest information on topics such as HIV prevention, sexual health, anti-oppression, and mental wellness
  • Build a network of like-minded peers in their community

Sounds awesome! How do I apply?

Our next session of Totally Outright will take place over two consecutive weekends: January 12, 13, 19, and 20, 2019. Ideally, participants will be able to attend all four sessions (but we will work to accommodate schedules as best we can). You can fill out the application below to tell us more about yourself and why you want to be involved. The deadline for applications is Friday January 4, 2019. If you have any questions about the program or application, please contact us!
