Gender Creative Families Night
Centre for Sexuality, in partnership with Families Matter, is pleased to offer a monthly support group for families and caregivers of gender creative children up to age 14.
Gender creative children are kids who express their gender in ways that are different than what others might expect based on their assigned sex at birth. This includes children who may be questioning their gender, transgender, gender non-conforming, gender independent, gender fluid, gender-queer, non-binary, or Two-Spirit.
This support group is an opportunity for caregivers to share stories and experiences, support each other in a non-judgmental and safe atmosphere, and to learn more about gender creativity.
Many caregivers voice that they have difficulty finding spaces for their kids to connect with other children who share their experiences. Free childcare is available during each support group session for this reason. This is an amazing space for kids to play and hang out with other gender creative children and their siblings. The childcare space is open for drop off at 5:45pm and is staffed by volunteers who are experienced with gender creative kids.
Where: Families Matter Trans Canada Centre, located at unit 158, 1440 52 Street, NE
When: The first Tuesday of every month. We begin at 6:00 p.m. and finish at 7:30 p.m.
This group is closed to only families of gender creative children. Please RSVP on the Eventbrite link below so we know who to expect at each meeting.
October 2, 2018
6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
This session will offer an introduction to the group, explain a bit about gender, discuss topics of interest for the 2018/2019 meetings, and leave plenty of time to catch up (or meet!) other parents and caregivers.
